Planning your wedding weekend in Panama: ideas on the water

A destination wedding in Panama is a whole weekend, not one evening, and the water is the easiest place to bring your guests together. From Vista Mar Marina on the Pacific Coast, Strong Tower Adventures can run a welcome sunset cruise, a private outing for the wedding party and a relaxed island day after the celebration, and builds custom packages that work alongside your wedding planner. Every charter is private, so each outing is just your people.

A wedding weekend timeline on the water

  1. Arrival day: a welcome sunset cruise

Greet out-of-town guests with the Sunset Cruise: about three hours aboard Oasis, $400 for up to four guests and $50 per additional guest, up to the boat's capacity of 10 and subject to Captain approval. Charcuterie ($40) and pizza from Benovolentieri ($30 each) keep it easy. For a bigger welcome party, Oasis and Iron Covenant can run together for up to 18 guests.

  2. The day before: an outing for the wedding party

Give the bridal party or groomsmen a half-day at Farallón Island, about 5 hours, from $500, with snorkeling gear and light snacks included. Back in time to rest before the rehearsal dinner.

  3. For the adventurous crew

A small group of up to four confident swimmers can try the supervised Introduction to Freediving & Spearfishing at Otoque. Not the day before the wedding, perhaps.

Want the ceremony itself on the water? Ceremonies and vow renewals can take place on board; you bring your own officiant, and we plan the timing and route around it. For a quiet sunset for the two of you or photos with the coast behind you, ask us about a custom package.

Working with your wedding planner

Strong Tower Adventures works directly with event planners and coordinators. Share the run-of-show, guest numbers and timings, and we'll fit the outings around the ceremony, the reception and travel days. Custom packages are available wherever a listed trip does not fit. See our weddings and private events page for how we work with couples and planners.

Practical things to decide early

  • Guest numbers: Oasis carries up to 10 guests; Iron Covenant up to 6 adults, or 8 guests including children. Both boats can run together for up to 18 guests.
  • Photographer: you are welcome to bring your own photographer; they take a paid seat and count as a guest.
  • Decorations, cake and food: for private events you can bring what you like. It is a boat, so large or fragile setups, loose decorations that could blow away and anything that could stain are harder to manage; tell us in advance so we can plan.
  • Season: Panama's dry season generally runs from about mid-December to April. Outside it, build in flexibility; the Captain shapes every route around weather and sea conditions.
  • Getting to the marina: ground transport to Vista Mar Marina is not part of the listed trips, so plan it with your planner.
  • Drinks and gratuity: alcoholic beverages are not included (on the Sunset Cruise you can bring your own), and a 15% crew gratuity is recommended.
  • Packing: share our what-to-bring checklist with guests before they travel.
